New York band The Pains of Being Pure At Heart is a instant win win. Mostly melancholy but with a nostalgic vibe, check out A Teenager In Love but listen on the playlist to The Tenure Itch (I couldn't pick ONE). While TPOBPAH have a 80's sound to it, they captured a sound that isn't kitsch - it feels genuine - with the garagy fuzz their songs could have easily been in a John Hughes film along with OMD and New Order....I want to toe tap like Molly Ringwald, oh, and I am.
