Datarock : I had the time of my life

There aren't many bands that I can see multiple times...in a year, or ever unless they have a new album out. What's the point most of the time? My past experiences disappointed me in seeing the same set up every time. But there are two bands that anytime they come around I MUST see. MUST. And so should you. Friendly Fires are one, but Datarock, oh my. I can not put into words the love I have for these Norwegian boys in red matching custom sweat suits (that I am dying to have one) and Yoko Ono sunglasses.

The majority of the crowd was not prepared for the new songs off the just released album Red, so Datarock stuck mostly to their older songs with a few new ones sprinkled in. They could have played all night long - at least I was wishing they would.

Their songs and stage presence get the crowd to a delirious state. Stage diving through the crowd, sing-alongs, dancing the running man, and ending every show with the Dirty Dancing song "time of my life" to show their appreciation to the crowd, just works me up into a frenzy of excitement every time. It's a high. How do I get these guys to come back more often? That was time 4 for me.....I can't wait for 5,6,7,8.

Datarock : Red - Red, Red Hot

The much, much much anticipated follow-up to Datarock's first album is FINALLY here. When I need some energy, a good song to dance to, to cheer me up, to push me on the treadmill, or a go to when I am lost in the shuffle of my ipod I always have Datarock...but there were only a few songs. Now, I have Red.

The Norwegian Dance-punk are back in their red Jumpsuits and Yoko Ono sunglasses.Their first single/video Give It Up can be viewed here, Resembling Michael Jackson's Beat It. The album has a few more rock songs vs. straight dance songs then I would like...but it's still gonna be on repeat for a while. Let's hope it's not another four years until the next album!

Stand-out songs:Not Me, The Pretender, Amarillon, Molly, and of course Give It Up.
Download the remix of Give It Up here and here.

So now that I have the new album, and my cynical ear still loves them, I think it's time to invest in the red Datarock suit, soon to be available for around $160 here. (I prefer the non re-mix but don't see it posted for free anywhere)
