Today, I left work at lunch to go to a special showcase for Jennifer O'Connor. It was especially unique because it was held at a home in a living room filled with Music Supervisors - which Jennifer played a short acoustic set for. 4 songs on her guitar, after days of riding the train from New York to Los Angeles, before her show at Spaceland.
It would have been better had I not had to fight traffic in the middle of the day trying to get back to work, reading emails (bad, I know). But it was a treat. The singer-songwriter from Brooklyn writes relatible lyrics and sings as if she is the only one in the room - or was it that we were in a small room staring at her so she climbed into her own space? Whatever it was - it was endearing and most definitely one of the most intimate performances I have experienced.
