I haven't danced at a show in a very long time. Side step yes...jump and dance around? OK - maybe at Datarock...but the Mates of State really stepped it up. Their new album Rearrange Us is so much fun that I had to pounce up and down and clap and sing and smile and and and and. Their song Get Better is yearning to be in a commercial. Harmonies and builds galore.
If you aren't already familiar with Mates Of State - they are made of husband and wife team Kori Gardner and Jason Hammel. Their key sounds are Kori on the organ and Jason on drums and a very strong combination of their vocals in harmony that make almost every one of their songs happy and heart-wrenching at the same time.
