Re-interpreting popular songs into cool, new arrangements of Bossa Nova is what French band Nouvelle Vague does...and they do it well. Since their first album in 2004, they re-introduced a whole new generation to the Bossa style....and inspired other collections of unlikely cover songs, like the Bossa n' Stones, a personal favorite of mine.
In the third ablum, titled 3, inspiration came from bluegrass and American country music than their prior discs. The album features guest
vocalists who sang the original versions of their songs, including Martin
Gore (Depeche Mode), Ian McCulloch (Echo & the Bunnymen), Terry Hall (Fun
Boy 3) and Barry Adamson.
