You'll find a mixed crowd of college kids, parents with their underage kids, music fans, picnic-ers, art lovers and the entire summer collection from Urban Outfitters - The museum and Indie 103.1 are helping expose small bands to Angelenos on these fabulous July nights....for FREE.

First up last night was Warpaint, a trio of girls rocking it out garage style. Mash up's are my new favorite thing - taking two different songs from different genres and splicing them together as if they were always one song. Warpaint was the ultimate mash-up band, but in a completely different way. They are rock 'n roll...but the mash ups come from their vocals - one singer singing in a Bjork style, and the other in a Patti Smith style. Together, the two opposing vocals mesh so nicely, especially when harmonized. The best song of the night that I heard was "Stars"
Art rock in a art setting.

Foreign Born, based out of Los Angeles (WHAT!? Yes, Los Angeles, not Brooklyn) proudly use the cowbell and maraca's to the beat of their songs. With hints of David Byrne, darker and slower BPM Vampire Weekend with some Caribbean essence, the band performed songs from their newest album "Person To Person".
