Metric : Killing It At The Wiltern

I kept hearing from people - "The new Metric album is awesome", "I love Metric", "Metric is awesome live" and so on and so on...but I wasn't a big believer. I have some songs from each album, and I couldn't get into it. Partially because Metric has a female singer and I am a little put off on a lot of girl vocals. So, even after a full day of flying with a Xanax hangover, and a few cups of coffee, I went to the show to check them out.

Wow. Talk about changing my whole perspective on a band. I felt transformed into a major Metric fan. Where Their live show had so much energy and Emily Haines worked it. I have never seen anything like it, well with the exception of Madonna, who I saw last year and could not believe someone can really bop around a stage with that enthusiasm....and then I saw Emily. What a force! Her vocals are stronger live along with her band mates. Asked later in the evening how she kept it up through a show - she answered the crowd's enthusiasm keeps her going....and the crow was going NUTSO.

Their synth-pop sound was so reminiscent of Ladyhawke and the Yeah Yeah Yeah's (Haines roomed with members of The Yeah Yeah Yeah's in the 90's), which had me immediately but their songs kept me hooked. Now when I listen to their new album Fantasies I'm drawn in....Loving Stadium Love & Sick Muse.

If you have a chance to see them live....get a ticket - you won't be dissapointed!!!

Um, yeah, Now you see why we love them. She really is an amazing frontwoman. Even when they play songs you might not be into, you get mesmerized by her! I'm sad they never found huge commercial success because they deserve it, but I'm glad they are still a little bit of a secret...
Karen O. totally ripped her off...and not as well.
Oh well.
